This course is designed to provide administrators, counselors, teachers, and other interested parties an overview of business and marketing education and it's role within New York's education system. Please note that this course is for informational purposes only and is not eligible for CTLE Credit.
All students need supports, but special education students have required needs you as a teacher need to be aware of and ready to support. Being familiar with special education will empower you to support your students so they have the best opportunities.
Both academic and technical content and skills are naturally ‘played out’ every day in the world around us. CTE programming provides students with opportunities to make direct connections between academics and the real-world application of academic content and skills–making learning relevant and explicitly visible to students.
Participants of this three-part mini-course will learn about the NYSED commencement-level learning standards in English Language Arts (ELA) and explore the possibilities for authentically integrating those standards in a CTE program.

This course will teach you how to approach students on issues of behavior and compliance that doesn’t make you the villain, shows respect for the student, and causes individual maturity and growth.
In this course you will learn how to choose from four communication styles, when to use them, and how they are interrelated to create a roadmap for student growth.
You will pick a student or situation to create a course of action for the issue you identified using the provided template. You will also receive a lot of great communication tips in the material.

In many CTE classrooms, instruction happens and then students complete a project. Learn ways to deepen student engagement and mastery by setting up meaningful “Project-Based Learning” experiences.
Course objectives:
Develop projects for your CTE classroom with instruction and assessment that target your learning goals (including specific content knowledge and general employability skills). Upon completion of this course, you will have built a completed project ready for classroom implementation. And with your new skills, you will have all the tools you need to make more learner-ready projects that fit your specific CTE curriculum.
Explore what social-emotional learning is, why it's important, and practical ways to integrate into CTE!
This course builds awareness of Social Emotional Learning (SEL), makes connections to why it is important, explores ways to integrate social-emotional learning into career and technical education, and provides some real-life examples and strategies that participants can implement immediately after finishing the course as well as in long-term goals.

In this ‘Teaching and Learning of ELLs in CTE’ course, you will be taking a look at different aspects of working with ELL students in the context of CTE topics.
This course will include 3 modules expanding on the different elements in engaging ELL students.
· Module 1-Empowering ELL Students
· Module 2- Connecting with ELL Students
· Module 3- ELL Teaching Strategies
Each module will provide a comprehensive look at the key parts of ELL Teaching by incorporating articles, activities, and videos designed to encourage reflection, observation and internalization of key topics.
The purpose of UDL is to keep the focus on the "Why, What, and How of Learning ." The UDL framework will give you the tools to design curriculum that will empower your students to have more agency over their learning. Using UDL will allow your students to become expert learners.
In this course, you will gain the knowledge and skills to teach culturally and racially diverse students. You will explore your own assumptions about race, class, and culture; and learn strategies for creating classrooms that are culturally inviting to all. You will learn the principles of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy (CRP), including affirming students’ cultural connections and become familiar with the NYSED Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education (CRSE) framework.
In this course, you will learn where to find labor market data, understand its importance, be able to integrate it into your course, and empower your students to use labor market data to make informed decisions about their future career(s).
As students learn about the labor market, they practice reading, writing, math, critical thinking, research, and digital skills. Labor market integration is an easy way to meet Next Generation Learning Standards integration into your CTE course.
